tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1994520873983579378.post692892747781964565..comments2022-03-28T03:38:31.186+01:00Comments on My Way God's Way: ACQUIRING HABITSPeter Clarke O.P.http://www.blogger.com/profile/10041856997279291487noreply@blogger.comBlogger1125tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1994520873983579378.post-32946352392686703982010-10-09T18:39:34.928+01:002010-10-09T18:39:34.928+01:00I have to admit to envying you the habit in one wa...I have to admit to envying you the habit in one way : because it provides a structure within which to live and grow; and if at times that feels restrictive, I am sure that for much of the time it must be beneficial . . . certainly it seems to have been so for most of the Dominicans I know.<br />Living 'in the world' is - nowadays, in particular - very much more difficult, precisely because there are so many issues with which to deal; and many of them are contradictory, confusing, or just plain impossible . . . hence my envy of the habit, and the Priory, which provide a framework within which to try and do God's will.<br />At the same time, if it has shaped you, I think it is also true to say that you have shaped it : because the world's perception of the Order is shaped by those who wear the habit, and in turn affects those who seek it . . . presumably a sort of endless circle, under the guidance of OHF Dominic, which leads the Order to being what the world needs at that time, and at the same time helps the world to provide the people that the Order needs.<br />In any event, I can only see your 60 years as a splendid achievement; but also as a splendid gift of God, or Our Lady, and of S.
